Why is a lower fee charged for self-pay patients than for private patients?

Dear patient,

the costs of examinations and consultations as well as laboratory tests during pregnancy are only covered by statutory health insurance if there is a medical necessity (indication). If there is no such indication, your doctor may not prescribe the relevant examination by means of a referral.

However, there is the possibility that we may treat this as a non-contractual performance. In this case, we will prepare a corresponding private liquidation in accordance with the "Gebührenordnung für Ärzte" (GOÄ). We have compiled the costs of the most common examinations in the following overview.
